First Night Out with the Neighbor

I've forged a new relationship with my next door neighbor recently.  He's a middle aged calculus teacher at a local community college and high school.  We built our friendship on, what other than...cars.  I recently got a new exotic car (a Lotus Exige) that he happened to see in my garage one day and wanted to meet me ever since.  He finally caught me one of the days pulling into the garage.  We started talking and I found out that he was thinking about getting a Ferrari.
Fast forward a couple of months and my best friend Billy is visiting to help fix the radiator on my Lotus.  Billy meets Brian and we all three hit it off talking about girls, cars, sex and any other foul things we can come up with.  Billy and I are both not very outgoing people and not great at meeting girls, both of which Brian seems to be very comfortable with.  Eventually we come up with the idea of going out with the intentions of picking up girls using the cover of "Uncle Brian".  And thus the legend was born...

So there we are last night, two "brothers" and "Uncle Brian" at one of the local bars. The first part of the night was more of Brian sort of teaching and telling us what works for him and us just kind of shooting the shit looking for girls.  We end up spotting two girls kind of against the wall at the bar.  A few minutes of talking about them and sort of catching each other's eyes, Uncle Brian walks over to them with the intention of using Billy and I as an "in".  He tells them that we think they are cute and that we are too afraid to come talk to them.  She tells Brian to tell us to come over, we do and the magic begins.
From the get go, I could tell Brian was good at carrying on conversations like this with strangers.  Something that Billy and I are both fairly terrible at.  I find that when I talk to girls I don't know, there are lots of nulls and awkward silences in the conversations.  Brian executed almost flawlessly in this area.  He would let Billy and I chime in whenever and talk to these girls but would quickly rescue the conversation while I'm trying to think of something to say or trying to remember what one of the girls did for a living or trying to remember her name...
The conversation eventually starts going slightly dull and Brian cuts it off and tells them that we'll see them around.  We go back to our seats and start planning the next move.
We decided that we would invite them to a new bar that we were thinking about going to.  So, Brian (reoccurring theme with him walking up to the girls) walks up to them and asks.
So we all start walking to the next bar, I get some 1:1 time with one of the girls and Brian is chatting up the other girl.  Just small talk about where she lives/goes to school and what she does for a living.
We get to the next bar and order a few beers.  This is where something interesting to note happens.  Both girls say that they only want water (one uses the DD excuse, the other uses some other excuse).  Brian ends up buying them shots of whiskey and makes up something about how he got them for free because the bartender thought they were cute.  They totally bought it and, almost willingly, took the shots.
The pool and chatting continues for a little while and the girls say that they were on their way.  I have the self debate of either asking for the girls number or not.  I end up deciding not to.  This was either because I was too much of a pussy, or that I was not super interested in the girl as it is.  I like to think it was more of the latter, but who knows, the mind works in interesting ways.  Billy however, brings up how hes going to run after the girls and get their numbers.  He does indeed run after them.  The story wasn't really clear here but apparently he asked for their number but somehow ended up giving one of the girls his number and then she also asked for mine.
We all chalked it up as a bittersweet victory.  Billy was disappointed because he did not understand something that Brian kept reiterating.  "It's extremely rare to meet a girl and bring her home the same night that you meet her."  Billy seemed to sort of put all his eggs in that basket and was hung up on them leaving.  I feel like I was more realistic about the situation but was also empathetic with how Billy felt in this situation.

There was another group of girls that Billy and Brian were talking to while I was talking to one of my co-worker friends.  This group was probably mostly in their 30's and like 3 of the 4 of them were married.  Brian seemed to try to be making a square fit into a circle.

We left that bar and went to a club where we had a few interesting experiences that will have to wait until next time.
