The First Number

We had another night on the town with Uncle Brian last night.  This night already seemed different than the first.  I already seemed less nervous and more experienced than the night before.  We started off at a local, upscale pool hall.  We walked in, got a few drinks and then scoped out the situation.  We noticed a group of 3 girls by themselves at a table and then we noticed that there was a birthday party or something going on for a black family.  The group of 3 girls seemed almost unapproachable.  They were all staring at their phones, not making eye contact, and just seemed to be uninterested in talking to anybody.  We got a table closer to them and within 5 minutes of sitting near them, they had gotten up and left.
We shot pool for a little bit while trying to scope out the situation a little more but it seemed like every girl in the bar was already talking to some other guy.  We left this bar and ended up going to more of an upscale club where we had some interesting experiences.
Brian was putting in some serious work here at the club.  Literally, the two hottest blondes walked by and it was one of those situations where you just know they are several leagues ahead of you in looks, so you don't even think about trying.  I get distracted with some other girls and, no more than 10 minutes later, Brian is pulling these gorgeous blondes onto the dance floor.  He was trying to hook them up with Billy and I but they were both at least 3 inches taller than both of us and they made it clear that it wasn't really going to happen.

We almost chalked it up for a night after the club but I decided that I at least wanted to try and walk up to a group of girls and talk to them.  Whether it was me walking up and failing or me actually succeeding, I wanted to get one under my belt.  I knew I would have to fail several times before I would finally succeed.  It seems to be basically a numbers game.
So we went into the neighboring bar to the club.  Before I could work up the courage, Brian spotted a couple of older women, one of which was also a gorgeous blonde woman and started chatting them up.  As that conversation ended, I spotted a group of 3 Asian girls all by themselves towards the end of the bar.  I worked up the courage, or the liquid courage was finally kicking in, walked over there and told them how my Uncle and cousin thought they were cute but were too embarrassed to come talk to them.  They started asking about going out with my uncle, I asked them their relationship and the conversation was underway.  A few minutes later as I was running out of steam and the conversation started to die, Brian happens to walk up and then Billy follows.  It was perfect timing and definitely saved the situation.  We broke out into group conversation about nothing that really matters or that anybody will ever remember which lasted for a few minutes.  Then somehow, with the help of Brian, I was sort of re positioned where I was getting some 1:1 conversation with the only girl I found attractive in the group.  We started chatting, then Billy and Brian walked away because the conversation with the other girls kind of stopped.  I told her that we should meet up sometime and that I should get going.  She agreed that we should meet up, so I asked for her number and she was happy to give it to me.
The whole experience of walking up to these girls was far less painful than you imagine it being in your head.  You live the scenario 100 times in your head and every time it seems to crash and burn. But somehow, it pulls through.

Next time I will go into more detail of the important things rather than a synopsis of the night.  I enjoy stories where I know what people are thinking and feeling, not just events of what happened.
